not sure of the manual to get
05 Jul 2008 13:57
Ok, all of you probably have a much better idea of what i have and what i need in regards to a repair manual. i just bought my first bike, a (what i am told is...) 1980 KZ750 Twin. The Vin on the engine begins with KZ750BE... The only manual i seem to find online, is by Clymer, and it covers 80-85 kz750 z750 and zx750... then also lists for the KZ's the E,H,L,LTD, and R. and the pic on the cover is of a four... my gut tells me that this manual is not going to be what i need yet i am unable to find anything else. I just do not want to order this thing and have it be the completely wrong manual.
feel free to send a virtual backhand for being so completely ignorant and confused by all of this
i just never expected there to be so many KZ models out there.
thanks in advance for anyone who can help guide me out of this fog of confussion.

The kawasaki factory service manual is way better than Clymers. I have one for my '79 KZ750 B4 twin. I'm sure Kawi made one for the 1980 model, or at least added updates to the '79 and published it as an '80 manual. That would be what you are looking for.

Yep, that's the right one, it's exactly like mine
The number on the motor is the engine serial number, the VIN is on the headstock behind the headlight, and all the 750 twins (I can verify through 82 anyway) have an engine serial number that starts with KZ750BE.

just wanted to say thanks for the help. the actual manual that was linked to me wound up getting pretty high in the bids, but right there in the last hours i managed to find another one with a buy now option that was lower than the bidding on the other.
