Got my Z1 running again!
21 Jun 2008 12:23
Except for the front master cylinder which appears to be played out, the bike is back together and running like a champ. I got to give a word of thanks to my neighbor who helped me this morning fix a subborn float that was sticking. He is a Harley guy but I won't hold that against him. Took her out for a quick spin and it felt great. She hasn't been tagged since 1988 if that tells you anything.
Anyone know where to get a rebuild kit for a 1975 Z1 master cylinder?

Good to hear this, maybe we'll see you for a bike ride soon. Try Z1 for the kit, they show two kits.
Redline Cycles
has a good selection too.

Not sure whether you have double disc brakes in the front but if you do you may need the
5/8' MC Rebuild Kit
If you have a single disc you will most likely have a 1/2' MC the kit for which is

CONGRATS on getting your Z1B up and running again!
Glad to hear you get along with your Harley guy neighbor, I'm a Harley guy and a Z1 guy.

I am happy to announce that the front brakes are now working great. Pulled the master cylinder apart and was able to clean it up. Had to flush all the lines and take the caliper apart to get all the gunk out of it. Need to get it warmed up good and change the oil and put some miles on her. I am so pumped. :woohoo:

What a coincidence to get your phone call literally seconds after I posted above! I'm glad to have talked to you Rob. Hope to ride out your way soon. Let me know when she is tagged a road ready, we'll go riding some afternoon. There are some nice roads out west of you running through Binger and Hinton.
