Hi from Baja!
02 Jun 2008 17:23
Just a quick note about how it wen't at the Baja 500 this weekend.
We finished!!!!
We were 16th out of 39 in class and 103rd out of 311 overall. We had an average speed of 33.7mph and finished in 13 hours. Not bad for our 1st time.
The bike ran great, it ran without being shut off for the whole 13 hours! I have never riden so fast for so long in my life! Topped out in 5th gear whenever I could see far enough ahead.
I'm still in Baja, I'll be back in a few days and will post more.

Hey folks, thank's for the congrat's.
I don't have many pic's, it's hard to take pic's and race at the same time.
Here is one pic of me somewere west of Mike's Sky Ranch. I hope the link works.

What the?! That is NOT a KZ!
Here I was trying to picture your mods, how you prepped your tires, etc...
But congratulations to you! Finishing a Baja race is BIG. Let's hear some more. Here I live in AZ, have had big ol' XRs around forever and I've never been riding in Baja.
What's it like? You get in a 'zone' after long hours in the saddle? Any troubles? Broken stuff, cows in the road, dangerous competitors, sneaky local-built jumps?

desert racing is fun when you finish i did the first vegas to reno race and our bike only made to the number 7 gas check before our other rider crashed his brains out and the cam chain jumped a bunch of teeth. so we had to wait for the pickup crew to bring him in but it wasn't so bad the gas check was located at a certain ranch that has been on t.v alot lately so we got check out some pretty girls and watch some super fast trucks at the same time it was all good that was in 1996 oh what fun congrates on the finish. tough thing to do.
