Back on her feet!!
19 Apr 2008 15:23
As most of you know I was in an accident back in August, I'm back at work (off 6 months) limp a little but doing pretty well. My bike got it's left side tore up pretty good, thankfully the right side (Vintage Kerker!) was untouched. A few ebay parts, a few old parts, a few KZR members and she's back on the road. She hung from an A frame ladder with her head cut off and all her innerds hanging out for awhile till I got the last part (triple tree) needed to put her back on her wheels. Rode the old gal up and down the street a couple times and everything feels great, I felt like I never stopped riding. I started her every week or so but I could tell things were starting to gum up but Seafoam came to the rescue. I still need to re-register (I non-oped it in Jan) so I can't go for a real ride yet but looking forward to it. Washed and polished her today and took some pics. Other than the tank, couple small dings, and black front turn signals she looks pretty good. As some of you can relate (especially Mark) it's pretty hard to see your pride and joy after an accident, I waited almost two weeks before I even went out to the garage to look. But that's all in the past now, she runs again and other than the tank she looks pretty decent. Want to thank again all you guys for being there for me and all the offers of parts or help! Ride safe, John

Wow John, you sure didn't waste any time (not that anyone could blame you) to finish getting it all back together after last weekend! :woohoo:
Aside from the dented tank and black front signal housings, a person would be hard pressed to tell what happened to her back in August.

I'm glad to hear you're back on the road too. Welcome to the broken bone club which is not something anyone that's not been there wants to be a member of. I guess I've been a member now about 10 times. Ouch. At least after you're a member you no longer need to go to a doctor because "you think you may have broken a bone". When a bone is broken, you know it, as I'm sure you can attest. Good luck.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Way to go, John. Glad to hear that both of you are doing well and back up to speed....more or less. Now to find a good tank. The aftermarket signals for those later KZ's are cheap and easy to find so your shouldn't have a problem sourcing those.
