That's a old Kawasaki
10 Apr 2008 23:29 - 10 Apr 2008 23:34
That's what I heard when I split up to a red light and stoped today. I looked over and it was a couple of 20 something dudes. I thought it was cool that these guys knew a bike that was older than them. They liked my paint and the newer suspenion on it too. I guess todays youth are not totaly lost, it made my day.

During the past week, four different people have asked what I'm doing on my vacation (which happens next week)...when I explained that I'm going to spend the entire week in the garage with my bikes they looked a bit dubious...when they asked what kind of bikes, I exclaimed "a Z2, two KZ1000's and two GPz's"...which resulted in three blank stares and one "are those dirt bikes?"...for most folks around here...if it ain't an HD, it can't be a motorcycle.

Same here, if it doesn't go "potato, potato, potato" or is wrapped in new plastic, they can hardly relate. There are some that do recognize the difference and appreciate the older UJMs.

I'm 21 and I swear I will never sell my "old kawasaki". Of course after watching on any sunday I'm pretty sure I was born in the wrong decade. I hope I never buy a harley either. We already have enough tractors on our farm so I just don't see it.

Well theres room next to one of my KZ's or my Triumph or my Hondas for a nice Buell or Road Glide. Jeepers now that I think about it a Ducati or a Guzzi Griso... maybe a Gusta.... hell maybe even a nice Beemer. I'd cut off a finger(maybe not mine ) for a 1984 Suzuki GSX 1100 S. I love my KZ's but I will never rule out another bike if the deal is right and I promise never to neglect any of them. They are all special.

Yep, the kids like the look of the ol' skol. Then they have to ruin it be saying something like, "My grandpa had one when it was new."
Damn kids.

Sounds like a good way to get your bike pushed over by a pissed of Harley rider. They are already pissed off that they spent too much money for a crappy bike. Don't give them any more fuel for the fire.

I concur with Kawtoy. The "faithful", not necessarily HOG owners, will take exception.
OTOH, the owner of a bike shop I patronize in Manhattan, KS has a vanity plate with HDEATR on his BMW. YMMV.
