Reverse?
30 Jan 2008 20:00
Hi all!
My question is really for the Voyager. My shop is at the lowest elevation on my property, and I have to go down the yard which is pretty rough to park in there. but it's the only place I can put her to bed with electric for the Battery minder. Trying to push that 900 pound beast around in the pot holes in the yard or over the sill of the shop is just killer!
When I worked at the dealership we had a walk behind "tractor" to push dead cars into the shop. Anything like that around for pushing a motorcycle? By the time I get her out and turned around, I'm just shaking like a leaf! Help please!

I have a new Battery, and it's good to start for about two weeks... after that the peripherals drain it.
My storage van body is where I park during riding season, but it's about 500 feet away from a breaker panel.
I guess I could try the solar charger or just unhook the battery during the slow season.
I still have to put one of the bikes down in the shop because they won't both fit up on the hill, but the 650 I can at least turn around down in the yard1:huh:

you dont have to go back to the panel, if there is a outlet close to it you could tie into that and it may be less distance

You could always put a switch on the battery to disconnect it while your not using it. Of course you'd have to reset your clock each time you rode it:ohmy:

I'd take the battery to the charger for the winter. Your's is a six so the battery's on the left side, am I right? You can't very well check the liquid level without removing it anyway.

Re: Reverse?

My imagination started running with this one.
Take the idea from your job and design an electric pusher/tow device. The big problem I see is how do you balance the bike while towing? How would you hook the device and bike together?
Airplane owners have tow bar hooks, and some are electric. Maybe redesign one to fit the bike? You might be able to fit it under the bike.
Grab an electric grocery cart mule from Walmart and rig something up?? These have remote control too.
Or buy a old electric golf cart and make something fit. Depends on how much room you have, but the best device would fit under the bike and lift it, and keep it balanced, and then be able to move around irregular ground.
Oh well, back to work, lunchtime is over.

I already have the yard tractor rear end and the 11 hp engine, just need the welder.
