Hi ya'll!!
13 Jan 2008 21:11
How is everyone doing? I trust everyone had a good holiday season. I'm doing pretty good, just wrapping up a little project. I had been wanting to do it for a long time, but after I had a relatively minor low side on Palomar mountain, it drove me to do it.
Here is the fateful day, taken before I went down.
And one taken of me as I was coming down the mountain, post-crash. Note the rash on the fairing.
I was fine, just a minor sprained wrist and a severely bruised ego. My rear tire hit some loose debris left over from the fires and the rear end stepped way out. The bike damage was a broken mirror, both left side turn signals broken, rashed up left fairing, and a bent shift lever.
After debating whether to try to repair the crash damage or go forth with my idea, I decided to embark on my quest. Fast forward about a month and probably around 20 hours of labor, and I now have this.
I put a set of GSXR1000 fairings onto my TL1000S. I had to fabricate the upper fairing stay and all the brackets. I am fairly satisfied with the results, and am going to put some color on it next weekend.

Glad to hear it wa sonly bike and not human damage. What are your plans to close up the big gap between the fairing and the frame?

The only thing I have left to do on the fairing is paint it. I'm leaving the fairing as simple as possible, as I will be doing track days on it, and want to make the prep work as easy as possible.
