Check this chart from an earlier postings courtesy of steell and Mcdroid --

showing the range of 5237 between frame numbers.

Can find this and more by typing 1977 KZ900 into the search forum box and pressing enter. :)

Edited to correct year shown from 1997 to 1977.

Zedder gives the frame number range for the 900-A5, from 510341 to 515578. That's 5,237 frames. But I don't think Kaw produced near that many.
David Marsden (Original Kawasaki) writes:
"It is worth mentioning that in 1977 a few more Z900s rolled of the line at Lincoln, presumably assembled from remaining parts stocks. Called the Z900-A5, this model was unique to America and has never been referred to by Kawasaki Japan."
Marsden's terminology is inaccurate, as he refers to the KZ900 as the Z900. But his point is that SOME KZ900s were built as '77 models.

Marsden's terminology is inaccurate, as he refers to the KZ900 as the Z900.

Nope, ltdrider, Marsden is absolutely correct. What you and I know as KZ models were sold in the UK and Europe as Z models. You see, Marsden is a Brit and worked for Kawasaki UK for many moons. He might even still be working for them. He is rightly considered THE authority on 4 stroke Kawi bikes from the 70's and '80's.
KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".
H2A Built from a genuine basket case. Yes,it's a hot rod.
GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.
2006 Bandit 1200S for easy LD rapid transit
Various H2 projects in the wings.

I have KZ900-A5 number Z1F-515447. That would make it one of the last of the 900's, maybe last day of production. I wonder if anyone knows how many were produced daily, and if anyone has the daily production numbers. Obscure info from many moons ago, but nevertheless interesting if you're into that sort of thing. :)

And as Jeff Saunders has pointed out, there are a number of mistakes in Marsden's book...I should have been paying closer attention to Jeff's corrections, but I didn't.
