Found this 650, pretty cheap even at the BIN price.

I'd have to look real careful at that one. Listing says 78 but the engine has emissions equipment on it, front master cylinder is not correct, tank and wheels look to be from an 80 650 LTD, has an 85 mph speedo when a 78 should have a 140 mph, has a salvage title etc. It appears to be a Frankenbike. Just my $.02.

Your correct Gringo. Everything about that bike is the same as my '80 F1. Maybe a '79? That front fender brace is wierd too. Still a good deal I think.

Look a little closer John, the entire front end looks to be an 80 LTD. Notice the headlight mounts, not like your F-1 (no fork ears) also the seat from what I can see anyways, looks to be from an LTD, the right side cover is not however for an LTD. It is for sure a Frankenbike. I also noticed that the rear mounting bolts for the engine are missing, another red flag that something about this bike is not 100% Kosher.

That bike was listed about 15 minutes from me. I too was very interested but, with the salvage title and other strangness i passed on it. The guy had it listed a week ago then relisted it and was showing it on craigslist here as well. Overall the bike was listed in 3 different places with 3 different prices. When i taked to the guy the price he was asking was even more than the listings....

Gringo hit it on the nail..not a 100% kosher...too bad though

That's definately a "Frankenbike", and an ugly one at that.

Yet someone actually won it with a BIN bid.
It gets weirder yet!
Does anyone else notice the contradictions in the Bid History ?

In the bid history, looks like one dude with 200 feedback, was biding against himself:dry:

I think all that means is that he had a maximum bid higher than the bids that were hitting. As his prevailed, it made it look that way.
81 KZ750E2(project), 81 KZ750E2(parts donor), 87 BMW K 75C - got it runnin, didn't care for it, holding for family member, 79 CB650(project) Nomad 1700, VStar 950
