Dixon, huh? Well, that means you would probably be racing at Byron, huh? I race there a few times a year. What type of bike will you be running?
Will be there in a couple weeks. There will be a bike drag event by 2 Wheel Speed called Hardcore on Sept. 8-9. Gates open at 8 a.m. and runs begin at 10 with elim. at 1 p.m. They have classes you can run in but also the track has test-n-tune at the same time. That would be best for you to start out in. Byron's tech basically consists of showing up! If you come down to Cordova to run, then it is more involved. They are a NHRA track. They (and most tracks) will want to see your leathers and helmet. Helmet must be Snell2000 (it will have a tag on the inside of the helmet). If you are running 120 mph or faster, you will need full leathers that zip together. Slower than 120 mph you will need a leather jacket, leather boots/shoes above the ankles and leather gloves. Stock bikes are basically good to go. I run my KZ and it runs 11.7's or so. Also have a turbo that runs 9.8's. You don't have to do anything to the bike, just be sure it is safe. Byron is VERY relaxed on tech issues. Once you get there, there will be others there that would be glad to tell you or show you what to do. Show up, enter, pay attention to how others run and you can pick up a lot. Bike racers are a friendly bunch and we were all beginners once, so we understand where you will be at! Come on out and play. Have some fun! If needed, ask all the questions you want.
