I did the "4 corners tour" twice on a KZ1000 covering 21,000 miles in 26 days in 1990 and 91. Also 4 of the Colorado 1000 in 24 rides 1987-1990 and 1135 miles in one day on a Yamaha FZ750 back in 1986. Also other nutty things like riding from Denver to Kingman, AZ staying the night then riding into Las Vegas to gamble a couple hours, then back to Denver for about a 2000 mile 2 day ride. What kind of questions do you have? I say go for it if you have the butt and neck. Yes, the neck takes a beating on long rides, that was the worst part for me, but like anything you work your way up to endure. I wouldn't do it if you've never ridden any long days like 500 miles. 500 miles will get you the idea how far you can go. In my heyday I'd ride 500 miles before the sun would come up in the morning on a long trip.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

i have done a couple 1000/24 which is the bottom of the barrell to get into the IBA. i did Green Bay to Seattle in 40 hours and 2200 miles when i was younger. now when i go to sturgis i ride staight through and it is a bit over a 1000, i will fill out the paperwork and send it in. you need to work your way up. try a few 500/750 mile trips to get use to it. some people will say the machine does not matter, but for all my long distance stuff i ride my Electra Glide. a fairing or at least a windshield is a must, but now i want cruise control and a radio. High speed is also not the answer, the biggest time killer is sitting at the gas station rubbing your butt and wasting time. leave the helmet on, gas and go.

One of the guys from the Kawi Triples message board did the 1000/24 last year on an H2 !!!
He's the very first guy to ever do it on an H2. Those who have owned an H2 can appreciate that that's a TRUE Iron Butt ride......
I know I'D never even dream of attempting a ride like that on my H2.....even if I was 30 years younger.

Now that *is* a rough one, riding a H2 1000 miles in a day. I wouldn't do it either. When the H2 was released in 1972 besides being touted as the worlds fastest production motorcycle, was also the ultimate touring motorcycle. Of course all Kawasaki adds. I never heard of anyone touring on a H2 even back when they were new although as I've mentioned here before, I have a friend that covered over 40,000 miles on an imaculate gold 1973 H2 and never even did a top end rebuild on it.
