Ok I have searched and searched here, looking for an explination of the VIN# sequence 81 kz1100 shaft drive and how it reads sorry to say but I am not finding what I am looking for.
MINE is: JKAKZBA15BA...... now I do understand that the last numbers are production value ~mine is a high number~.
can a person get year made, paint code, trim package, ect from the vin number? what exactly does this number explain?

Relax...there is very little information hidden in the post-1980 frame VIN's. You can tell model and production number...that is it. Early VIN's also gave info on where the bike was assembled, but no more
