I like the pipe, and think it would look a bit cooler with a small "slash cut" instead of straight. I like the plate mount too, how are you going to mount it there?

Also, when you figure out rear sets, let me know how you built them cause I want some too but have no welding skills...

Great job so far...Wish you were closer so we could compare noted on the 650's.

you know what rat...I thought about doing a slash cut but in my mind that seemed all to harly-ish...I like the way it is because I still have the option to do a reverse cone if I want and I am strongly weighing that...making the baffle is going to be the fun part..ha

Keep the photos coming Scumbag. I am following this thread with a bit of curiosity because I am doing something very similar in my cellar right now. I took a beat up 750 right down to a big pile of parts, scrubbed down and painted the motor, then bolted it into another frame I had kicking around the shed. I did the motor flat black like yours, but I couldn't bring myself to paint the engine covers so I polished them up to a decent shine; the frame and most other parts are rattle can black. I want to get all the odds and ends bolted on and working before I lose them or forget where they go. Then I can figure out the ass end- I know it will be bobbed a bit at least; I hacksawed off the last 10" of the frame so there is no turning back on that. I will be watching to see your approach to issues like tail and turn lights, license plate, etc.
Hope you don't mind..

Like the pipe and the shiney bits man, looking good! I would definitely put a reverse cone on that pipe, I think you're right on the money with the slash-cut thing. How are you planning to make the baffle?

well the baffle will be done...um...I will get to that haha...I have a rough idea of what I want to do but its not at the top of the list of things to do yet...

anyway well I did a rough mock up of a license plate mount...still needs another strut at the bottom and the corners need to be rounded and smoothed but all in all I thin it looks good as far as placement goes

the plate is justa mock up plate I use...the real one is a lot cleaner

Lookin good. I thought about doing something similar, with my new rear tire (taller profile)I have very little clearance. Shocks are pretty stiff, but I've sucked in a taillight/license plate assembly before... no bueno

So yes it has been awhile since i have said anything about the 650...between finals, power outages, and a jumble of other crap I haven't been able to do much with the bike

painted the rear wheel metal flake black, the front wheel, fork boot, and body work will all get the same treatment...rad...

replaced all the motor bolts with stainless allen head jobs...really sets off the black motor...

anyway lemme know what y'all think....

I am thinking about getting this done by February
