Speedo repair

When the bushing for the spinning magnet starts to wear the instruments fluctuate up and down.
I made two new bushings to keep the magnet centered.

Nice job 73!! I've tried to duplicate that but i don't have a lathe and fortunate to already have an ample supply. End-play also is a critical component when performing work like that but you already knew that, ha. I have done a couple Yamaha RZ350 gauges, that don't have any bush at all, just shaft riding on the pot zinc! That's why they start to squeal subsequently destroying themselves. I install a grease zerk right above the cable threading on housing for Maintenace. Looks like you have the TWO style housings, early cast and later steel. Great job!!

Has anyone disassembled a reproduction speedo?
Do the parts interchange with Nippon Denso?

Yamaha favored the Nippon Seiki for the RZ and RD's. Like the early triple H series Kawasaki. The "Trip Register" is comprised of tiny little brass leaf springs. Not for the faint of heart i will say. That's why i got gifted with the task of doing these because you really need to pay attention what you're doing! The ND's used on all the Z's and KZ's are a cakewalk in comparison.
