my '83 650 / been a project since Day 1

....but a done-done project these days ......bought her new in 1983 in Fairfield CA while in the USAF, and have had her for all of these 42 past years .....been thru the engine twice, last time: American Performance Engineering valve guides & springs, GPz 750 cams, 2nd over pistons & rings, CR smoothbores, Barnett 13 plate clutch, Dyna coils & on & on (bottom end completely bone-stock from Japan, besides the clutch)......she has been sporting her Earl's competition oil cooler & steel braid since just after I got the bike, same for the ATK cast aluminum fork brace and steering damper (fully adjustable) ....had her wheels respoked 5 years ago and had that amazing DID aluminum polished as well ......Sproket Specialists sprockets front & rear ...chopped 5 inches off rear fender and tucked the taillight up high, chopped stems off rear turn signals to tuck them in and mounted the front run signals to headlight sides to tuck them in .....SuperTrapp racing pipe recently got its tail cleaned out & restuffed (the 4 into 1 wears VHT flame-proof flat black) .....chromed all the lower cases, rear peg mounts, handlebar mounts, etc back in the early 80s when I got her ....she has 67K original miles and starts, runs, pulls and rides like a smooth dream....dropped her front end rake about an inch compared to original ......she started life at the factory in Japan as a CSR 650, but I've resto'modded her into a SR 650 now .....I just fully rebuilt her auto cam chain tensioner this morning ! ......I'm 62, so I got my 650 when I was 20 and I do not think I will ever be able to sell her or see her go, we shall see how long I can continue to blaze around on her !

Great ride and story.
Also have a 650 for many years, and can not let her go.
