Had some more time to work on her today.
Washed the mounts in soap and water.
Tapped over the Oil Label.
And gave the mounts three coats of black paint.

Also some clear.
Second coat of clear got some frosting effect.
Very hot and humid today.

Cleaned the front fender for the first time.
Top and bottom.
The front half looks decent enough, but the back half has lots of scratches and a small dent.

A little more done today:

The License plate mount was looking bad.
A clean and paint.

The tail light lens also looked worn out: dirty and faded. so bought a new one.
The new one has the refletors on the sides, where the one that came with her did not.
I prefer having the reflector for safety.

The Ignition cover that came with her seems to be an 1100R model's.
Found the correct style Ign. cover, just needs some black paint.

Disassembled the carbs and gave the bodies a cleaning today.

There was gas in the carbs when stored.

Cleaned them inside and out.
Look better.
New jets and o-rings will be installed.
And needle set to stock specs.

Bought a battery for the old girl.
Filled and charged.

Turn the key, and we have power.

Lights work, signals are not flashing, horns are not working.

Borrowed the kids umbrella and table to give some protection from falling debris from the trees.
Gave the Ignition cover and calipers some semi-gloss black paint.

If your household allows such activity, throw it in the oven (high heat). Aluminum will expand more then the shaft, might even fall out in the oven, ha.

Chatting with a buddy this weekend, he suggested I check the compression.
I put some oil in the crankcase, and did just that.
1, 3 & 4 have similar readings.
#2 only about half.
I will be checking the valve clearances...

I cleaned the internal loose parts of the carbs.
The Jet Needles don't look to be stock.
They have 6 clip grooves, whereas stock Canadian Jet Needles have 5 grooves.

Does anyone know a source for Jet Needles?
I tried callin a Dealer today, but they seemed to be closed.
We have a Holiday tomorrow, Canada Day.

I bought a tool tray that was advertised to be from a Ninja 250.
It didn't look like any other 250 tool tray, but did look a lot like a 1000R's tool tray.
I've got it backwards compaed to the lower picture with the green bodywork, which i think is stock.
And with a bit of extra wiring for a relay, and the difference in battery pole position, my tray is not quite seated down all the way.

Hey Rob,
Jetsrus.com is a good source for Mikuni needles and jets.  Also you could check Niche cycle supply.
