Leon,
I sure am- we're looking to get everything slapped in this weekend to make it a roller, maybe even get the offset on the sprocket. What do you think for frame rigidity if I notch it?
Pappy- thanks! The tubes are 53mm, off an '01 Buell Lightning. Can't wait to get it back to riding condition!

Forgot to mention- I can order a swinger from a 600 that I can order in quick if you don't think the frame can deal with notching.

I caved and bought the swinger off the 600- it's got the same length/width at the wheel that the 900 does, just narrower on the pivot tube by 3/4 of an inch. This will clear my frame with no issues, and will make it an almost drop-in with spacers on the end of the pivot tube. Buuut, I have to spend a good bit of time polishing this one up- it's got paint and grime all over it. $30, can't complain.

Fork looks great! I've always liked the look of that huge rotor.
I noticed a HUGE difference in cold start with my dyna setup. I know I had a questionable coil that was contributing but man it just fires up now so I hope you get the same result...
Sounds like a good direction with the 600. Less work = riding sooner.

Ed,
I love how mean the front end looks now- looks so intimidating! Wait til you see the end product once I have everything mounted up
That's what I've been hearing with the Dyna setup- I hope I get the same on my end too! I have my carbs bench-synched right now, so I just have to fire it up and do a running synch/pilot circuit tune.
As for the swingarm- it sure does mean less work, and more riding time My shock linkage and dogbones will fit right on from the 900, which is nice. I'll get the new swingarm all polished up soon so it's good to go nice and quick. $30 for the old swingarm wasn't a loss either, the linkage and dogbones are worth more than that alone. I'll just have a spare sitting around for another build

Looked into the front master cylinder issue- the KZ master cylinder has a 5/8 inch bore, the Buell runs a 3/8ths bore. As the KZ is larger, I should have plenty of braking power to drive the 6 pot caliper

Picked up the 600 swingarm yesterday. It needs some cleaning/polishing, but it'll make the whole process MUCH quicker to do the swap. Hopefully some shop time this upcoming week over an evening to get things started. Pictures will follow

Re: 650 Mod's 78 Fighter Build

Got a bit of work done on the bike today. Dropped the old swingarm off, ground the pivot tube tabs out a bit to hold the new Ninja 600 swingarm, had everything ready to line up, check clearances...
And then there's an issue with the rear caliper mounting up. I either don't have one of the spacers (but I checked the parts diagrams, I have them all), or the caliper I was told was the right year isn't...
It took away about 2 hours of checking diagrams, flipping spacers, making sure things were in the right spot, and still no luck... It's times like these that really slow things down and make you scratch your head. It's a roller for now, and that's all that matters to me.
The swingarm fits into the chassis now, and is temporarily mounted up. The suspension feels a little "woody" right now (see pics) haha.
Rear end propped up, old rear off
Just a rough idea of what the end product is going to look like
Swingarm is a little greasy from dirty hands, but it's all polished up and ready to rock
Nice side view- the ride height will be lower than this- this is just with the 2x4 in place to keep the ass end up
Pretty mean looking, if you ask me
Hopefully I get this issue sorted out soon. More updates will follow with progress.
