Updated and Revamped 84 KZ700
02 Jan 2013 15:50
Happy New Year to you all.
I bought a KZ700 back in april of 2012. I was going to keep it "OE" but after looking at some of the updates that were done, there was no way to keep it stock. Ok this is how I got it.
Then I started to tear into it and break it down.
This is my insparation and my final goal....
I have to say this build has been very intresting and I've meet some nice people with some good info and insight on these bikes. like "Leon" and others. Thanks for your help now and in the near future for sure...
I am using a ZZR600 front end and a ZX6 rear Swingarm with twin shock setup. (keeping it semi old school). I striped the bike down to the frame and used the KBS coating setup. It worked well. The only thing I would do over is thin out the coating and spray it. I used the brush meathod and it worked well. Just use good brushes. Here are some pics
I will post more pics that I have later on..

Happy new yer to you either!
You have a nice bike there and a really like the "inspiration" model. Keep up the good work, and maintain some of the old scholl style.
Cheers!

got some more pics of the build.
While I had the engine off the frame I would paint it and replace some of the bolts and nuts with SS. Leon worked his majic on the swing arm and front tree and also made a custom rear brake bracket and spacer that looks OEM. Great job Leon. This build has been fun so far. I have meet some nice folks that know their stuff about these bikes. Thank you and keep up the good work. I'm sure I have more questions that need answers too.
for the holiday I got a acewell speedo that Im itching to put on, But I will save that for when I start the electrical work.
I also bought a rearset that will be nice on the new painted frame.
This is how the bike is now mocked up
