To Tear Down or Not To Tear Down
25 Nov 2012 14:26
the age old quesrion want to do a few mods redo some things but tearing it down and litteraly
touching ans ckeaning every bolt. is it worth it?
the weathrer here ca be below zero or in th 70's
if I tear the bike down then it stays tore down ril its done
Last year did a mono scock convert road it til i got the bugs out
doing t eh front end swap right now
plan on 1075 and a little tuning that shows off what this bike was in its day
question do the front end and wait to acuumulatre the go fast parts or just tear into her this year
Im dry fitting the front end as we speak then going to diassemble paint frame rewire bike M-unit mordern everything and 1075 kit none off which I have. si once again i am left with the option
A. tear down paint paint it put it back together install new parts as budget akkiws
B. Tear it down finish it maybe a year or more
c do the front end ride the wheels off it just askin everyones iopiniion I will b building mt son inlaw and waughters wedding preasant usein my giid parts selling the rest as i go

get it together and ride, decide what you like and don't like about it, transfer ideas to next bike build. You have a running ride and can take your time and money as it flows to work on build.

I would also ride it if you dont think you can have it done by summer. Yet if you already had the 1075 kit and your motor was healthy it wouldnt cost alot more to get the 1075 kit in. Then as your budget allowed you could do more.

Our winters are long and summers short. I can't stand to be without a running bike when I can ride. Fortunate to have an extra one now so that won't happen. Tough call. You going to go throughthe complete motor or just the top end? If you had an extra block you could get it bored and all ready to go.

Any chance for a cheap spare motor you can build up as you get funds and then slip it into your finished frame later? Sounds like you are on top of the new front end. I would keep a rider going so you can keep your head and soul healthy.
:woohoo:

im in the same boat as to how far im going with my build. i have a fat side check coming so im gonna pay kzz1king and order all my parts at once so if i do get held up by a surprise it will be minimal. i already did my xmas shopping and payed my bills so i kind planned it out so i can get moving all at once. spare motor is always nice but im attached to mine cause it was my dads and eventho he is alive i got nothing from him so its special to me. if you could swing it a spare motor build is the way to go.
