1982 GPz750 ELR Replica
21 Oct 2012 22:14 - 21 Oct 2012 22:16
Finally got her done so here is a few pics.
Here is where I started. You can't really tell how bad the paint is from this shot:
Here are some other closer pics:
You can see how bad the discolotration is from this shot:
The guy who painted it works at the feed store where we get our horse's feed. He said he could paint so I gave him a shot. The bodywork and paint were all done without a booth and in the back of the feed store.
I did most of the stripes myself but I had a hard time with the compound curves on the tank. The trick is to thin the stripes a little and apply them above the curve on the bottom of the 750 tank.
And the finished product:
Not bad for $350 plus paint.I am very happy with it.

Re: 1982 GPz750 ELR Replica
22 Oct 2012 21:54Thanks! The tank stripes were a PITA. I don't mind telling you this was the 2nd set of stripes I purchased. The problem is the compound curve on the bottom of the 750 tank. The KZ1000 and GPZ1100 tanks don't have that curve. The trick is to narrow the stripes a little and put them on above the curve.BlackZ1R wrote: That did turn out great! Thanks Everyone. I can't give enough credit to my painter. I've got three more bikes and two more cars for him to paint!
