get an idea of what you want. Look at different builds whats your objective? I would normally advise you to have an idea before you disassemble anything.
keep in mind most builds change several times during the process. mine started out as a get it running and ride it project. went from wanting a wider rear tire to a monoshock conversion.
I got my original inspiration from a KZ i found on Youtube now it's not even close.
Whats your motivation and your budget and time frame?? that will definately help on where to start

Hello, Dvrmerck, and WELCOME to KZr!
Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses.
It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And may be changed whenever and as often as desired.

I don't know the level of your skills but if you have no building skills I would go for a restoration. Just painting the bike and assembling will increase your skills.
You will also learn the bike from end to end. Roy

Forks are together, wheel bearings removed, All Ballz in the freezer cooling, replacing nuts bolts gradually with Stainless fittings. New tires "Spitfires" Rims look great. MOre to follow!
