1978 KZ650 Bobber/Chopper in progress!

As you can see, he did an awesome job with the frame, even making fancy gussets for strength.
In the second picture, you see my crude editing I managed on the Paint program. Nothing nice to look at, but a general idea of what my hopes for it used to be.
After doing some work, it has come out as something much better, and I will be uploading pics soon. Let me know what you think of it!

How many times have you been told to quit playing with that bike and fix the flat tire on the SUV!

Yeah haha like I said, that is just a very crude idea of what I had in mind :pinch:
There may be some red accents, but all in all, it's going to be pretty close to what it is now. (color wise at least!)
Even so, I would also like to re-do the whole color scheme... But I can't decide!
Any ideas?

Luckily, that's my sister's blazer and I'm not obligated to touch it!

Here are the pics I took earlier, just showing how it's coming along. I have decided on the colors and everything, so it's just up to finishing my welds and grinding and painting. on top of that, i have a few more minor details to get on there.
with these hand made 11 inch tall handlebars, and the 20 inch sissy bar, it is all coming to the style I had in mind!
I sure do have some scrubbing ahead of me!
this will tame the rigid frame and make for a softer ride. I made this bicycle shock replace the two lawn mower seat springs my dad had used.
Someone had given me this old tool, I can only guess what it was used for. It is hand forged square stock, and I would assume it was used in applying horseshoes.
just to show my round bar gussets
A nice sportster tank my uncle found us
my dad made the side covers from aluminum diamond plate. this one nicely covers the master cylinder
Let me know what you think!!!

So, I have done quite a bit of work to this baby lately, including making my handlebars wider, and making a back fender out of a front fender.
The fender I made is not quite done, but I have pictures to put up, which I will soon.

So, here are some new pictures. I have done quite some work on it, so there are many changes. And all are for the better!
New rear fender!
Wider handlebars. They are now straighter than shown here.
Fender will come to a point at the bottom.
I now have a better tail light, but no pictures yet
Decided to use this KZ1000 tank I had. In doing so, it seems I need a new seat... Time to fabricate!
My thick new seat pan. I still need to give it shape, but this way I can make the shock mount anywhere and it will be strong.
Let Me know your thoughts on the direction this bike is heading.

Much as I love the look of the stocker KZ's, that is giong to be a mean bobber. I really like what you are up to with the fenders and handles. Nice seeing some original parts get modded rather than swaps in from other makes/styles of bikes.
That will entirely your ride by the end. Keep it up, and of course, more pics. :side:
Cheers,
Jonny
PS - Any chance you still have the original tank kicking around / don't want it?

Thanks for the feedback, Jonny!
I was wondering if anyone on here would respond any time soon. Yeah, I definitely like being able to just choose a look and build it. I do not have the original tank, though if I did it would be on this bike. I gave it to my cousin for his Nighthawk threewheeler project and when he left that house for a while the whole thing got thrown out
luckily my dad had that parts bike though! I will definitely be adding pictures!
thanks again- Joey

Re: This thing was so close to done, now it's gone..

I haven't posted in a long time. Well, I got the damn thing so close to rideable, then gave up. Now I'm back in the state of Maine failing at life once again. But I can show you what it turned out like when I got done! One thing is for certain, I changed my ideas many times haha
the back fender was scrapped, but law required something, so I did a metal strap!
pretty good for rustolium and some cheap stickers, right? I wish i still had it..
