17 Jul 2010 15:16 - 17 Jul 2010 15:23
Here is the 7th tear down and rebuild my 78 KZ650. This time I did it the way I always wanted to without cutting corners. Warning lots of pics.

Man that looks GREAT, nice job. So when well you be ready to go for a SoCal ride to show off in person. I like the old Russ Collins pipe and I use to have my badges like that, nice.

Thanks guys, and yes Mark I would like to go on another ride with you guys. I always have a good time, any idea when the next one will be?
If your referring to the "backsteps" as the rearsets, I fabbed those up. I used a 1976 Honda CB400F gear selector for the shifter side and lengthened the shift rod. Believe it or not but the splines for shifter on the the CB were the same as the KZ.
I used an old shifter lever for the rear brake and welded up the bolt hole then drilled it out the splined section to accept a smooth shaft. I cut the stock rear brake pedal and fabbed it to work. I bolted both sides to the stock passenger peg arms using plates I fabbed from aluminum.

Love it.
Like how you did the badges, and all the other attentions to detail.
