Thanks guys! Yeah, I scored that red Kerker for about $20 on fleabay. It was brand new-never installed. I wasn't crazy about the red, but it does match the bike pretty well. The label says "Targa by Kerker". Also, the label is situated such that the muffler should go on the left side of the bike. I flipped it over and spun the tail pipe to point down in order to use it on the right side... I don't know what it was meant to go on.
I worked on the frame for a few days in May, then the rest of it took about two weeks to come together. I only had to buy a few odds and ends, luckily. I still have to decide what to do for a seat pad. The one that's on there is ok for around town, but it's too stiff for over an hour. I can't seem to find those soft kneeling pads for gardening.

Very Nice! This thread keeps looking better & better :woohoo: . The tail section is a great idea using what you did. I have been reading some websites on working with carbon fiber for bodywork and may build a double headlight 1/2-3/4 fairing (sorta early ZX7ish) and tail section also in the future for my other KZ1000A1 project. But yea I like your work, keep it up, regards, Doug

P.s.
When the product looks that good, some find it difficult to not demand more pics and progress. Ergo I suggest you put your social life on hold, take a leave of absence from work (or just quit, whatever gets you turning a wrench faster) before an angry mob finds it way into your basement / garage.

Lou,
This is just cool. I think I hear angels.
Are you doing more with it? It's sort of spartan looking now (which is cool) ... all buisness, nothing un-needed. Very cool bike. But if there is more to come...count me in as a fan.

Thanks again everybody!
It's about 75 to 80% done. I just needed to get it to a point that it could be rideable, and I've been riding the piss out of it.
I am designing dual LED tailights to use as turn signals. I have a fiberglass front fender to put on. I'm still playing with different seat pads. The biggest thing yet is probably paint. I haven't decided if I'm going to buy a paint gun and line dryer and do it myself, or just pay someone. I have a primered tank ready to go when the time comes.
The clear tail has been a good conversation piece, but I can't use it for storage till I paint it.
I'll keep the headlights for as long as they will hold up. Being exposed to the elements and all, I don't expect them to last long, but they were dumpster parts so no loss.
Lately I've just been doing maintenance on the other bikes, but I mostly ride this one.
Since the tail turned out pretty well, I'm toying with ideas for a small front fairing. I have to try some forming experiments.

Pilot jets drilled to 34 (from 32).
And I'm using Dynojet DN0205 needles from the 2305 kit. 3rd clip from top (out of 6possible positions), no shims
This is similar to the K&L rebuild kit Y77 needle which is identical to the Kawasaki 4D93 needle which is the adjustable version of the stock needles. On the Y77 or 4D93 you want the 2nd or 3rd clip from the top (out of 5 positions). (2nd mimicks the fixed position of the stock needle exactly.)
Mixture screws are about 1.25 to 1.5 turns out.
That was just a rough setting, but it seems to be flawless. Starts easily (even without a battery). Full power past redline, no pops, no hiccups, and no dead spots. I may have gotten lucky on the setting.
