Thanks, glad that You like it, I agree with You, there are a lot of bikes out there that in real life isnot really built for riding. I know that with a 30 year old bike if You ride it You will need to fix it and it will get greasy and scratched. I must tell though that the paintjob looks so much better on the photo than in real life...

Cold garage is a pain, since last year I am blessed with a large warm garage. It still is a mess though but th eplan is to build a small workshop there. Some pics of progress, first tailpiece painted, i am proud of finding the always missing red reflexes:

Next one front fender and light. Also the vallvecover is off and valve clearances to be fixed.

And of course the shim that needs to be changed has no marking whatsoever so fortunately my father have given me a close to antique micrometer which I have to show You besides the shim:

Something tells me a Sweden made micrometer is the epitome of accuracey, regardless of age! Nice progress pics, keep 'em comin'!

I actually got a whole crate of ancient metalwork tools from the old guy, very useful indeed. Several hammers, metal liners, files, several gadgets I don´t know the english word for but very good to have. Thinking of removing the head now, just for fun...

I've got the same bike out in the barn "waiting" for me to get started on it and you're giving me a lot of good ideas and inspiration. Thanks for sharing your progress!

Thanks for looking, the bike was an unobtainable dream when I was eighteen, now it is pretty much seen as useless by the younger guys but I like it still..

good looking bike, i love the tank reminds me of a ducati monster in that red and white combo.
what stages did you take when painting the tank, i'm going to be painting mine soon with rattle cans, its factory finished so will need flatting back but then where do i go from there?!?

Hi, take my advice for what it is worth..the paintjob looks much better in the picture than in real life...I did not start with the factory paint, the tank was repainted by the PO, also it had several dents in it and was fixed with Bondo. I sanded the tank and then put new bondo in the worst spots, sanded it again and finally wetsanded. Thereafter one coat of primer and three of white (stripes), masked it and put on three coats of red and three of clear. Now it needs polishing. The problems I see with rattlecans is primarily that the color will not be gas-proof and will chip easier. It is however possible to get really good finish with it, that is all in wetsanding all layers. BUT I am in no way an expert on this. My goal is to get an acceptable job, not a perfect one.
