Thought I would start this up and document my trials and successes with my winter maintenance project on my 79 B4 twin. I started a photobucket album with all the pics, and I am taking a schnitload! Mainly for my own record, but I thought you all might want to follow along, FWIW.

For now, here are two shots: Before I brought her in, and where it stands today. For the rest, check out the Album

In the beginning...

And now...

hehehe...looks familiar! :)

I really wish I hadn't ripped mine apart so fast though, cause it was decent riding weather for a while during december. Not so worried about it now though, since its definitely winter around here - finally?

Can't wait for spring though!

Yea, I put it off as long as I dared. I intend to do fork seals & dust boots, master cyl rebuilds, chain and sprockets. Then the cosmetic schtuff: Polish the case covers & clean the oxidation off the motor.

Still undecided on the spoke job - though it *needs* one.

Got the front brake caliper apart finally - check this mess out. It's a wonder they worked - but they did! Rebuild kit should be here Thursday. B)

What appears to be a spider nest on the caliper bracket!

Yep, that does look a bit on the grungy side. :pinch:

The left caliper on my bike has a similar web on it.
I say leave the spiderweb right where it's at.
I don't know if it's the spider or just the web, but at 75mph on my bike I hear a faint, but high pitched whine/scream emiting from the front end. :woohoo: :P :silly:
