New Member - KZ1000 and tall riders

Just wondering if any guys let’s say 6’5” and up are riding KZ’s comfortably? I’m 6’6” and it feels crammed when feet are on the pegs. Any suggestions? Was thinking a taller seat would help. Might be a long shot, but I wanted to see if any taller riders have done anything to their bike to make it fit more comfortably?

I am also 6''6' - size 13 shoe. Personally I have found the stock controls to be acceptable on the KZ lineup i've ridden - 400, 650, 750, 750t, 1000. I find the boots/shoes I wear make a big difference. If i'm wearing steel toe boots its a real pain to shift. Most other footwear is fine but proper riding boots with a low profile toe are the best. Relative to sportbikes these old bikes are quite comfortable IMHO.

Have you tried adjusting your controls? what bike are you riding?

I am 6'-4"- and used to wear size 13 shoe. Like DoctoRot, I had no issues riding a Z1 or KZ 1000, but it all depends what kind of shoe or boot I am wearing. My main problem is that now I am suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis and have to wear size 14 shoe. Because of my arthritis I now have to be careful what kind of riding boot I wear, and that is becoming a problem for me especially when riding my ZX-14.

I've never liked the Z1/KZ seats, and I get uncomfortable with the seating position after 30 or 40 miles.  My knees stiffen up and my ass begins to get sore.  On taller bikes, like a KLR I am much better off.  I'm 6 ft 3 in.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar.

Thanks guys I appreciate that. Knowing other tall guys are riding fine gives me confidence I will be fine on the KZ1000. Appreciate it!! I’ll make it work because I love this bike.

Look on the bright side, you guys aren't trying to prop up 250kg on your "tip toes" at stop lights like us little guys !!!! :)

At my height of approx 6'1", I've always found the Z1, Z900, and Z1000, with their 150 cm wheelbase and approximately 80cm seat height, to be ideal for me.
The proportions are just right... on smaller bikes, I always look like I've stolen my nephew's moped....

Greetings, Joe
