Greetings from Spain! I just bought a 1978 KZ 1000 LTD.

I hope to spend some time with you all and that you'll share your experiences, since there's no information or spare parts available here in Spain.

Impressive. Something like this is impossible in my country.
I'm lucky to have a unit that's almost unique in Europe.
We'll see how we can maintain it without reasonably priced spare parts. Best wishes.

Today I changed the rear brake pads and fluid (by the way, the fluid was coming out like chocolate). I'm taking this opportunity to curse the engineer who installed this brake caliper. It took me all day, removing the whole wheel and everything, what a nightmare! 😡

Your LTD is a beautiful example of a near stock survivor .
Your rear brake caliper is a one year only setup  for LTD's
They work good. too.  once cleaned up.

The rear caliper looks just like the one on my 77' KZ 1000LTD. I was told my rear brake caliper was only used 1 or 2 years.

That rear caliper was used on 3 models and years. Started it's usage on the 1976 LTD900. Then used on the 1977 and 1978 KZ1000 LTD's.

That's a relief. Can you suggest any? I'm already making a list.

Honestly, it's a real pain having to take apart the entire rear suspension just to change brake pads.

I've never seen anything like it.

Besides, the caliper doesn't have any markings like Tokiko or anything like that.
