KZ '77 Re-rebuild

Hi,

I could use some help from group here. Twenty-five years ago I rebuilt a '77 KZ 1000.

At the time, the only major modification was installing an '87 GSXR 750 swingarm, which worked well. I didn't have the money or experience to do the frontend and figured I'd tackle that later on. After riding it for 5 years, life happened and it sat for a long time.

Now, I've decided it's time for a rebuild and I want to upgrade the front-end and wheels/brakes. After scouring through other projects here, I landed on using a '94 ZX9-r. I acquired a front-end, swingarm, wheels, and brakes. However, I'm starting to think that was a mistake (at least on the swingarm, should've measured that first). The ZX9-r swingarm is too wide for the frame and the rear wheel is too wide for the GSXR swingarm. So, I'm kinda stuck.

Anyway, considering I already have the GSXR swingarm in place, should I just go with a different frontend altogether and GSXR wheels & brakes?

I'm hoping the community here can offer up some suggestions. Should I punt on the ZX9-r components?

Thanks

I'm sure there are many possibilities of this and that but how are Your fabrication skills? Rarely do these non-stock bits just fall into place. You will find out this very soon but good luck. I don't have any input because i only restore to original specs.

If you check out the earlier part of my build thread (link in my signature) I have used a 98 ZX9R C1 front end (with a ZX6R stem) and a GSXR 600K1 swingarm (simple fit) in my 82. Don't know how relevant my experience is to your 77. As Clay has pointed out, which ever way you go it won't be a "bolt together" solution and there will be some fabrication/machining involved.
