Hello from New Zealand
Yesterday 23:09
New member here from New Zealand.
I've been retired for a number of years now so that has allowed me more time to further pursue my passion which is restoring old motorcycles.
Apart from restoring a 1976 Z900 (KZ for you US guys) more than 25 years ago, I haven't had any other Kawasaki's in my shed. Not by choice though, I just happened to start restoring SOHC Hondas - mainly CB750's and CB500's and have completed around 10 in total. I only own one of those now, as the rest have been sold off to fund the next project.
However, recently a friend of mine bought a semi-restored '73 Z1 and it came with a spare engine which turns out to be a very early '72 engine. In return for helping my friend with his restoration (mainly engine assembly) he has gifted me the spare engine and anything else that is left over.
I've now purchased a frame from Australia (at a ridiculous price), so my Z1 project has now started !
Just starting to realize that Z1 parts are very expensive, especially as there is next to nothing available here in NZ (very small market where Z1's sold in their hundreds and not thousands).
Looking forward to asking "newb" questions and tapping in to all the knowledge here on the forum.
Cheers - JT

Welcome. I never realized Kawasaki used both KZ and Z in different markets, I supposed I have a whole new name to search when looking for random things to read about my bike.
