FIRST POST Valve Timing - Z1000J and Z1000K

24 Dec 2025 23:49 - 25 Dec 2025 05:17
#920036
I have been asked to fit some Z1000J cams into a Z1000K engine. I wish to dial them in accurately in using slotted cam wheels, can anyone supply me with the opening/closing figures for inlet and exhaust cams for both J and K engines please so that I can calculate the lobe centre figures. The manual that we have for the engine does not supply any information other than setting up using the standard procedure.
Regards,
Bill S

The stock lobe centre cam timing figure for all the 900 through 1100 8 valve aircooled fours is 110 degrees regardless of cam profile and lift etc so there's no real need to know the actual opening and closing figures of the individual models.

There seems to be a typographical error in the K/M exhaust numbers. I am pretty sure that 63 + 180 + 27 = 270.

Rob is the 110 degrees an optimised setting to compensate for manufacturing tolerances in the factory TDC mark ? (just asking as it seems to differ from the manual ?)
