New Member - JD_1982

Hello, my name is Jared and this year I inherited a 1981 KZ440 LTD Belt (late model) from my late grandfather.  The bike is older than me!  It's my first motorcycle and I've really enjoyed becoming a rider with it.  I joined the forum because, as an older bike, it has it's mechanical issues and I've found past posts super helpful in diagnosing and fixing issues and making improvements.

In particular, my bike has recently developed a clicking sound from the pulley area which I'm trying to fix.  A past post indicated this is probably the main bearing on the output shaft (which would require splitting open the engine to fix) but I'm hoping to find another solution before I go that far.

Welcome from the UK, in the first instance I would check the pulley bolt is tight

Welcome. I long wanted a 440.

Yup, I just tightened it to spec this morning and bent the washer tabs over tight.  Seems to have fixed the clicking problem for now...crossing my fingers that is all it took!

This seems to be the issue with pulleys in general when they "click" (my buddy had the same with the blower belt pulley on his F150 truck)
