1977 KZ1000A New rear wheel bearing issue

08 Oct 2025 16:32 - 08 Oct 2025 16:48
#917986
Recently replaced rear wheel bearings and now my sprocket hub coupling sleeve won't seat on the bearing, it hits before the hub will seat in the damper. Ive had three guys look at it with KZ knowledge and their at a loss. Also the sleeve is flat side on bearing, bevel is not touching anything.

Is number 20 tight against the snap ring?

What I originally posted in this space was goofy, so I erased it and put this here instead.

Tex, are you calling your post goofy or the entire post?  I would think your response is fine. If everything fit before the bearings update and now it does not then it must be something related to the install of bearings, the sleeve or the collar.

I haven’t messed with a Kz1000A spoked wheel in quite some time as all my stuff has more modern 17” wheels BUT is #19 in the correct way?  Other than that, are the bearings the correct numbers: (1) 6206 and (2) 6304?

As already mentioned, it's a common mistake to put 19 in backwards.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar.

Do you mean the bearing race assembly is backwards?

As already mentioned, it's a common mistake to put 19 in backwards.
so, what problem does that cause? the collar might be akilter? or does the flange make contact w the hub, preventing the bearings from seating properly? or ??? thanks.

Nobody has mentioned #14 as of yet, this is not symmetrical and looks like it would physically fit either way round which would effect the spacing of the sprocket carrier?
