Replacing the fuel line and vacuum lines
Yesterday 10:31 - Yesterday 12:35
Hey guys I’m new the group. I have a 1976 kz400 with dual carbs. How do I run the fuel lines correctly? I’ve seen all sorts of info but I’m getting confused. There are 2 ports at the petcock, a fuel inlet in the middle of the carbs (fuel rail) and one inlet on each carb as well. How do I correctly set this up? TIA!

That is interesting. According to the factory service manual, the petcock should have a single outlet. The hoses on the bottom of the bowls (#eight) are for drain or overflow. The ones on the sides (#5) are the bowl vents, and the fuel inlet in the center should be on the outside of the #2 carb (#11).

I do not know this for fact but the pic of his carbs look more like the carbs on the 77 version of the 400 than the earlier versions.
I would also state that 2 ports on the petcock does not mean it is a vacuum operated one. What if anything is stamped around the petcock lever?

Here is a parts diagram for the 1978 Kz400. They look like what you have.

I just took a closer look at the fsm pic above, and dang if it doesn't look like there is a spot for a fuel line between the carbs, in front of the balance screw, #12.
