First post! If I have posted in the wrong area please move to the proper place and forgive an old guy!

Through no fault of my own, I am in possession of a KZ750! I would like to determine the year of this bike. The label on the steering neck says: KZ750-002317 (photo attached). This number is also stamped into the neck. Am I looking in the correct place?

Any help will be appreciated!

The photo didn't show up. Also I believe you left out part of the number that should be stamped on the steering neck. There should be a letter after "KZ750" such as the "E" in the example below. See if the number is in the following format:

KZ750E-000001

You are correct, of course!! I did omit the E in that number! It should read: KZ750E-002317.

Don't know what happened to the pic (was just a pic of the decal). Perhaps it was too large.

Thanks. Notice on the last page of Kawasaki Service Manual in the link below that the 1980 KZ750-E1 Frame numbers started with "KZ750E-000001" and the 1981 KZ750-E2 frame numbers started with KZ750E-012001. So it looks like your bike is a 1980 KZ750-E1 model. Ed
