question for fitting new ZRX shocks to the KZ was created by richrand

I picked up a pair of ZRX shocks and went to install them today. I got the rightside on just fine, but the left side is touching the chain. I'm not happy about not running without the chain guard, but I can live with it. What's the best way to solve this problem? Do I maybe move the bottom left shock mount out about .5''? If I do that, do I have to do anything with the top mount? Thanks.

Good luck with the rebuild! I restored 1 1/2 Z1-B's. the first one was my fathers bike he bought off the showroom floor. The second I bought to restore as an investment then got stressed out and sold it 1/2 way through.
As far as tuning, my Dads bike had pods on it and it ran like crap. I installed the stock airbox (which he thankfully saved) and it was like a brand new bike. So IMO, I would set everything as far as the engine goes to stock. I still need to buy emulators but I do have a set of modified ZRX shock I throw on every so often. They really help on the highway. The stock looking reproduction shocks suck to ride on.
If you strip the frame I'm the guy that makes exact replicas of the steer tube sticker.
My Dads Z1B. I ride it like I stole it. haha
Project I bought from the original owner. Blue Z1B

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationglad you finally received your arm sir.it's always nice to get those big puzzle pieces to move on to the next stage.
any way i could get you to measure the front support of your under brace and tell me how long it is?
sounds like you should be looking for some
for that extra length.

Leon,
O-ring 3.1x1.6
O-ring 33 X5
Seal Head Assy.
Piston ring
Teflon Hex band 44/5
Oil
2 springs.
The guy that did the work is also taking care of some AMA bikes. From what he told me the shocks "hard parts" hardly wear, as you can see there are piston rings and such that do wear.
Any good suspension shop can tear them down and rebuild them for you. I was going to use KFG racing in Seattle, they tuned and rebuilt the suspension on my Ducati. They would be the number one choice if you are on the west coast. I was unaware that there was a guy in the Reno, NV area that could do it, When I found out I sent them to him for a faster local turn around.

Thanks all. I picked up a clean set of 2005 ZRX shocks on ebay. I'll post a pic when there's on. I accidentally spent more than I wanted, but oh well -- they seem to be well regarded and will be a big improvement.

I've got Ohlins piggybacks on my z100R, they are IIRC about 360-365mm, they are actually for the ZRX1200 but I wanted to lift the rear end around 15mm. I was told that the spring rates are the same for both bikes.
The zr1100 zephyr shocks also look cool but I'd be cautious about spending much on 20 year old shocks, even when rebuildable it isn't that cheap.

The Ohlins shocks Are back from the shop rebuilt and with the proper spring rate. Time to get a license plate!

As for the ZRX shocks, what are the length of these? There are some on ebay now. my KZ uses 13.5 eye/eye off the bike (I think).
