No, it's where you store your spare oil for when you see a broken down harley rider. It's nice to help when you can.

Z1000J2 somewhat modified!

Yeah, chain oiler tank.  Guess if I hadn't removed mine and thrown it away 30 years ago, it would be worth some money now !

Yep, many people ditched the troublesome chain oilers...other made similar mistakes over the years (I speak from experience here) like throwing away my original pipes from my Z1B and my first KZ1000A1...

Looks like there are VIN issues with this bike.  Sale has been voided!

That oil tank looks like a reproduction. Did note that the RH switchblock was a reproduction. I still don't get it...regardless of VIN issues. Seems someone out there is willing to pay almost 100K for a lot of aftermarket parts?? Getting ready to do a bunch of Z2 original parts a Friend is sending me. Wonder if the cat responsible for selling this one hung on to all the original parts he replaced??

There is occasional fake Z2 stuff that pops up...last month a set of purported Z2 cylinders (jugs) appeared on eBay with the descriptor of 'rare'.  The cylinder should have the volume number cast into the front of the jugs (i.e. 746cc)...but this set of jugs had the volume (748cc) stamped into the jugs (note also that the volume was wrong).

Where did you see the frame number photo? Didn't notice it in the sale photos. If Mecum's is reporting the engine numbers correctly, then I would question the engine numbers as they report 6 digits after the Z2E...there should only be 5 digits...there is an extra leading '0'.

I was curious if your Z2 has a frame "Horn"  VIN sticker next to stamped VIN ?  I was told by a Z2 owner that they didn't have a sticker?
