I think EV's are good in some applications, such as for commuting to work, and not so good in others, like long distance driving. If you can charge your car at home it's definitely cheaper to run than an ICE. But if you have to charge on the road you will pay through the nose. Most roadside stations charge by the minute, so power costs considerably more than if charged at home.
I don't see a great market for electric motorcycles because battery storage limits the bike range too much. I also don't see long distance truck transportation with EV's. Perhaps hydrogen is a better alternative. On the other hand, local delivery vans are well suited for EV status.
In BC we are lucky to have almost 100% of our power generated by hydro. No coal, natural gas or nuclear. Some wind and a tiny bit of solar.
I have thought about buying an EV, but right now they are a tough commodity to find. The Ford Lightening truck is sold out for 2022 and 23. That would be my option, but not yet, because there are not enough fast chargers available around the country. Maybe in another 5 years.
