I really want a Giuliari.

Z1 ones are really hard to find though. I was lucky enough to get a kz1000 Giuliari seat last year for $50, but it obviously doesn't fit

You are a lucky one.
The Giuliari seats were sold like gold on e-bay. Here is a brand new white one for 880 Euros.

I like the "normal look" better. I was never a fan of seat covers that snapped on. The Corbin seat hump is a little big, but I don't hate it. I wonder if you can modify a Corbin to look more like the Giuliari seat. Maybe look for a ripped up one on ebay for cheap. That way you don't have to cut up your good one. BTW, the front fairing looks badass!

I put the corbin back on this morning:

Here's a view from the back. It doesn't get as wide as you would think based of some of the other viewing angles:

I might try one of the Giuliari replica seat covers you can get from england via ebay. It's cheap enough that it's worth a shot.
Otherwise I may look at getting one of the japanese custom style Z1 seats:

I suppose I should be glad that I have the luxury of now concerning myself over aesthetics vs mechanical

When it comes to a long ride I prefer comfort over sitting on a log or broken down foam padding as far as the gunfighter style seat, strapping down a jump bag is kind of obnoxious, that's why I use an ltd grab bar on my a4

This style seat is my favorite for the early Z1/Kz1000 bikes.

If your bike makes some serious horsepower, you don't worry about holding on to it with this style seat!!!

1972 H2 750 Cafe Racer built in 1974.
1976 KH400 Production Road Racer.
1979 Kz1000 MK. II Old AMA/WERA Superbike.
1986 RG500G 2 stroke terror.
1986 GSXR750RG The one with the clutch that rattles!

Of the two options you presented I would go with the Corbin. I have that seat on my 79 KZ 1000 LTD. The LTD tank is so much smaller than the standard you have so the proportions are better. I always ride mine with a tank bag so that helps. Really liking the fairing, I have the same but full size and do not like it....after seeing yours I am going to modify mine. Back to the seats: I did a longish stretch with a stock LTD seat and was only able to put 210 miles before I had to give up....The Corbin let me crank out 400+ miles and that is enough for me to decide which one to use. BTW, I absolutely love the classic S.E.V. Marshall stickers....brought me back to my youth.

You might consider a seat off a police model.  I have an 81 rebuild project that I put a stock police seat on and was amazed at the level of comfort it had.  I have a 2012 Victory tour that the seat is not as comfortable as that old police seat.

Wow that looks great.  Upholstery is something that I wish I had the skill for.
