Checking Partzilla, it looks like 77 has the same internals as 76 and 78.  Probably 79 and 80 as well.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I’ve got a set of ‘77 A1’s on the bench right now, the only difference is in the color of the dampner.  One is silver and the others is gold. Must have been something a PO did. Maybe one was damaged and they replaced it without tearing them apart and never knew they were a miss match.

What is the spring length did you disassemble through botton by removing c clip or just take out of the top you think the 76 tube would work thanks for the help

Fork lowers were vapor honed (blasted). Recently rebuild two set of Z1 forks for Wheelhop at our Zukey Lake get together. Same guy did/does my blasting.

the spring can not be removed through the bottom of the upper. The dampener will not come out the bottom. The only way to remove the spring is by removing the cap nut. I’ll measure the item and post for your reference. You can compare
