I got some new calipers. I bought them from someone who said he pulled them off a 77 kz1000. However, I am not able to confirm this. They do look good, the pads are new. Can anyone ID the calipers by looking at them ?

Markings on the calipers:
L Tokico(means left caliper right?)
D8
1 11/16

Not sure, but they look like the ones off of my 1982. I don't have the bike in my office so I can't be too sure. Check ebay photos for a 1981-83 kz to be sure.

Kinda look like the ones on my 80 750LTD. Not sure if they all used the same calipers.

Those are definitely not standard fare for a 77 1000, but don't despair. They are the later model of calipers for the KZ. They came on some bikes in 1980 and all KZ's 1981 and up. I an almost positive they'll fit pre 80s bikes, though.

One thing you want to watch out for is where the bleeder valve ends up. You want the bleeder valve to be as high as possible on the caliper. If this means you need to swap the brake system to the other fork, go ahead and do it.

Another note, this isn't necessary. 1977 KZ1000's came from the factory with the caliper in front of the fork leg. It was moved to the back of the leg the following year to increase stability. If you're messing with your brakes already, you might want to consider swapping the forks so that the caliper mounts are to the rear.

funny enough they look just like the calipers, front and rear, on my 86 Tecate 3wheeler. The only difference I see is that mine have a raised Kawasaki "K" on them in the center of the circle.

Shoe48: do yours have the same markings on them ?

I really wonder what the "1 11/16" means. Could it be the piston size ?
