The ignition pickups were the problem. I ended up getting a used unit the seller had verified tested good over the dyna s because my coils would have had to be replaced. I put about 50 miles on the bike locally yesterday and it didnt cut out once. Infact it seems that pickup has been a problem for quite a while because my inconsistent idle seems to have disappeared with the new pickups.
