Hi Guys , Just pulled the 1984 Gpz 1100 from storage today, she's been sleeping for 5 Years and I need to treat her with gifts...lol I placed an order today for tires and wanted to install some Dyna Coils on the bike . Could you guys direct me in the right direction on which Dyna Coils to get . I was looking around and all I could find about Dyna Coils for a 1984 1100 GPZ is the 3 Ohm Green dyna coils work. I need a part number so I could order it on line....Any help will be appreciated.

If you are not stuck on Dyna, another alternative is the ACCEL 140403 Universal Super Coil Kit which includes the spark plug wires.

I have no experience with Dyna, and am not bashing them, but owning my GPz since 2003 I have only had one coil failure.

Steve is right, that is one nice ride you have there.

Nice bike . Hopefully the fuel pump will come on after sitting so long . That seems to be one of the problems with the turbos when they sit . Sometimes you can get them going if you soak them in gas for a few days then put a bat to the connections and cycle it both ways . sometimes you can shock them back by taping it with a hammer .

good luck shes a beauty

if it still has factory stock ignition Best to use gray 2.2ohm coils.

I found these Grey coil for the 1984 GPZ 1100..............................- For Dyna 2000 Applications/2.2 Ohm/Dual Output/Grey/2 Per Package
Part#: DC4-1 Availability: In Stock.....

Would I have to buy the Dyna 2000 for the Grey 2.2 Ohm coils to work??

Why cant I use the Dyna GREEN 3 Ohm coil. ....

On the existing stock coils, they read [ 2.8 Ohms PRIMARY ] [ SECONDARY 11,780 Volts ]

Thanks

Do you have the service manuals for your bike? You'd need the KZ1000/1100 base manual and the KZ/ZX1100 GPz supplement manual.
If the primary resistance is supposed to be around 2.2 ohms, then you can probably use either the grey 2.2 ohm coils or the green 3.0 ohm coils or the Accel Super Coils mentioned by CoreyClough.

The following site has the pdf manuals. The one listed as Z1000 J 1981-3 Kawasaki Service Manual is the KZ1000/KZ1100 base manual, and the supplement manual is the one listed as GPZ 1100 1983 Kawasaki Service Manual.
zedrider.co.uk --- various service & owner's manuals plus several wiring diagrams & parts lists

The KZ1000R site has the same pdf manuals, but they are listed differently. KZRider may have them as well.

I'd get the 3 OHM in case the ignition takes a dump. Then I could get a dyna S and not have to BUY COILS TOO.

........The Dyna site mentioned to go with a replacement coil that exceeding the 1.8 ohm value of my stock. I dont want to up grade the system to a Dyna S ...Just want to do a quick coil upgrade. I'm taking it that not all 1984 GPZ 1100 Kawasaki adapt to the Dyna Coil upgrades.
