have a kz1300 with all the fairing and bags (which i want to dump) and was wondering if i can hot wire it to see if it is getting spark by by passing all other switches etc, as a starting point, and if if it is possible to retrofit the ignition to a points system? i like simplicity

I *think* you can do this by getting power to the coils. Not absolutely sure because my manual is for a 650.
It’s fairly easy to check for power at the coils and trace the wires back checking for voltage back to the solenoid. Do you have a manual with a wiring diagram?
Just sharing an opinion here but if you want simplicity you might want to stick with the stock electrical system.
