Hey all,
OK, this is a down and dirty (clean cut version) of the Dyna S installation and some of the issues and resolutions for an easy installation...
Hope it helps some others... It's truly an easy process.
OMR's tutorial:

Dave - Good job but I want to point out a couple of things... first the smaller bolt head on your crank end is not 13mm... it is 14mm. You might want to mention for the newbie to use a socket on the 17mm nut because it is thin and most open end box wrenches will slip off and ding the 2/3 pickup (I know this for a fact hehe). Also, there is never a need to slot the back plate. The reason you could only get within 1/8" of where you need to be in timing is that they don't set the two pickups when assembling. When you can't get the timing on because the plate won't rotate far enough, loosen the LEFT pickup and move it counter-clockwise on its two little allen bolts. You will have to move the 2/3 pickup as well later to make it 180 degrees away from the 1/4 pickup. In fact, when you buy one of these things, it doesn't hurt to set up the pickups yourself before you even mount the thing rotating the 1/4 pickup counterclockwise a bit. Last, there are three different advance mechanisms (timing) for the 903/1015cc family and at least one of these doesn't reach full advance till it gets a bit past 3K rpm so the Dyna recommendation to rev the engine to 2.5K rpm to set the timing with a strobe light should be 3500 rpm instead.

As I mentioned in the article, wasn't comfortable where it sat in moving the 1/2 sensor. In my testing/confirmations, the allen bolt just barely caught the end of the sensor to obtain the F amrking, made me nervous where due to vibration it may just slip out.... Henceforth, elongate the slots worked out best...
And as it turned out for me, 2/3 sensor came out dead on after the slot expansion so no need to adjust at all... As mentioned i the article, if required adjust the 2/3 sensor via the Allen head screws as dpeicted in the Dyna literature...
13mm versus 14mm...Oops, good catch, oh well, either case don't use it, use the 17mm as depicted. I used a socket versus wrench, good point as you mentioned...
2.5K rpm to set the timing with a strobe light should be 3500 rpm instead.
As provided in the Dyna installtion manual depicts 2500rpm for timing light... Interesting! I'll contact Dyna and see i they have an update to this...

06 Feb 2009 15:01NOT to USE for crankshaft rotations...13mm versus 14mm
I had thought about this off and on all day and I was sure I had this correct... I just arrived home and remeasured the smaller outside bolt head, sure enough, mine is a 13mm in size...
In either case, don't use the smaller of the two nuts as I leader lined to the correct 17mm to use as depicted.

I heard a vicious rumor that OMR was actually a really nice guy but we would not want that to get out might ruin his reputation.
thanks for the hand holding, am upgrading to the Dyna but have not got into it yet. looks like a no brain'er now.

There's a related step. Checking your charging system to ensure it's not overcharging.
If your regulator has failed you will see over 15 volts when the bikes RPM rise above 4,000 - often climbing over 17 volts.
This is death to electronic ignitons (and doesn't do the rest of the electrical system much good either).

still dont know why people cant put things in laymans terms like i can. Lamp meter light, fe3d cannecter, bla. talk english. Some people dont know these things. whatever happeneed to the black wire or the red wire? keep it simple or youll be locked into a dungeon somewhere, the escape insructions will likely be like the small crack at the bilateral pinion fuse under the scurge port. dont worry bout the dingy dingeon cuz the gov will get out. YOU are their kind of guy! Booya

AND. quit pickin on that 13mm nut! It didnt do anything. Why dont we just cut to the quick and chew the nut off with our teeth and say there! I knew it! I knew it!WEAK I can look real hard at mine and it starts melting down.
