Headlight flashes when using other lights

Now that she's running like a champ, I'm having lighting issues.

Every time I use and of the lights (i.e. signals, brakes, high beam) I get a flickering in the headlamp. It actually dims and then flicker after the other light is turned off. It's worst with the turn siganls, but they all do it. I'm not sure what it's called, but the component pictured gets really hot (too hot to touch) after a few minutes. It's corresponding fuse also gets very hot, but doesn't pop (indicating resistance somewhere, not an overload).

Can this pictured component be the problem, any other suggestions on where to look? Thanks in advance

Quick thing to add...

The bike is getting harder and harder to kick over...the Neutral light seems dimmer each time I go out to start it, and it takes more kicks...

It seems like the bike may not be maintaining a good enough charge, what do you guys think?

I just really want to get a couple of good fairly worry free rides in before the rain returns...thanks Oregon...

Have you checked the charging system, and the battery, bad grounds can play hell on a bike too

I was getting 14 volts at the battery when running, but I haven't gone through all of the charging system checks yet, that's my next step...

Have you got a manual? mine has a wiring diagram in the back. also here on the site in the database there is an electrical trouble shooting page you can down load. Really though the first thing that comes to my mind is check and clean all the connections you can find. get some stuff to spray on them. I use some stuff called De-Oxit I get at the supply house.Behind the head light there are quite a few important connections made. If you don't know how to use a multi-meter to test stuff it's a good idea to learn.And they are relatively cheap to buy.

I'm a certified auto tech, but as I've said elsewhere, bikes are new and a little daunting. I ran through the manual and found that my rectifier failed the test, and once I find one of those I'll test the rest of the system.

Any other suggestions?
