my new cockpit + LED tail light
06 Jan 2006 18:10
Recently I mounted my new instruments, a mechanical Daytona tach, mechanical to digital Koso speedo, oil temp. gauge (sending unit is in a screw that replaces the oil drain screw and I still need to order it) and a mini LED tail light on my KZ 400. Also trimed the tail plastic...
I am still working on a Aluminum faceplate for the instruments.........

Wow, that looks like good stuff.
Please provide info on the oil gauge and the sending unit. That sounds like a really clever idea and I want to know more....

Thanks!
Well so far there's not soo much progress yet that's worth looking at 'cept a black anodized superbike bar and right hand controls (killswitch etc) from a ZX 12R..but I will post some more pics when I get a few other things done in the next days.
I got the tach off ebay, the others I ordered here in Germany from a shop www.louis.de/
The speedo is from Koso so I would think you could get it through a US distributer ? it cost 70 euro here, the oil gauge was 50 euro and the sending unit is another 30 euro, comes seperate cuz they have them in different sizes so you get the on that fits your bike. The also have it with a white background. Has 12V lighting in it.

I found a couple pics I could share right now though...
here's the LEDs I'm going to use as the idiot lights, got red, green, blue, yellow, for oil, neutral, turn, high beam...
and here you can tell how I trimed the tail before/after...

Very cool!!!!!!!
My friend is doing a similar project. It's in the 400 gallery.
I'd really like to see the whole thing when you get a chance!

I never got to see the pics, just those damned red Xs. Even turned off my pop-up blocker, too.
