Thanks for the great photos! I've never had to take a starter apart yet, either. It looks like at least some of the 750-4cylinder KZ's had the reduction starter as well. I don't think my 550's have that, though, because the nose cone is much shorter on the 550's.

Interesting pics, and it is a planetary gear set used as gear reduction. First time I have heard the planet gears called "Moon" gears though
