I'm having quite an issue.

Whenever gas is connected to the carbs, carb 3 leaks from the overflow.

I've cleaned the float needle, the little bowl its sitting in. It still leaked. I replaced all of them and set float heights. It leaks. I swapped float needles (and the thingie it sits in) between carbs 3 and 4. 3 still leaks.

What the heck could it be?

Also whats a proper main jet size for stock exhaust and airbox? The PO had 107.5s in there (it had pods), so while I was in there, I put 102s in. Will those be okay?

The jet sizes are in the factory manual. There is a free download here if you don't already have one.

Two things worth checking regarding the fuel leak: make sure fuel is not going down the vacuum line and into the carbs that way, and if your carb float bowls have an overflow tube make sure it's not cracked. I'm not familiar with those particular carbs but cracked copper tubes in old carbs is quite common.

I didn't mean stock by proper, I know the stock jetting is lean, which I would rather avoid. I just want a reasonable size that won't foul plugs like crazy.

That tube being cracked is a likely culprit! I will pull the carbs off (again smh) tomorrow and check. I can fix that with solder right?

I've used solder before but found replacing the tubes a better fix. This is with Keihin carbs though. If you have VM Mikuni's the tube replacement process may be more difficult.

I was having occasional leaking when idling or on shutoff, and I got one of those little rubber hose tools to actually see the fuel level and that fixed any issues.

Fun fact: If you replace the JIS screws on the carbs with hex head screws (z1 enterprises sells a set), you can take the float bowls off the carbs without pulling the carbs from the bike. It's a little awkward to mess with the middle ones, but I was able to adjust the floats without taking the carbs off. Was it faster? Hell yeah!

Taking the carb bowls off the carbs without removing the carbs from the bike is very easy, even with the JIS screws. Just use the proper tools (either type shown below with JIS bits); it really makes a big difference. Ed
