The carburetor spacing is probably different. I don't know what you mean about the vacuum question, unless you're referencing the fuel petcock.

Well yes I have a gravity feed at the moment. Can I just block off the vacuum ports on the larger carbs? or just replace my petcock with a vacuum one?

You can block the vacuum ports. Use good automotive vacuum caps.
Have you checked the spacing? I think it'll be different.

Can you provide photos of the carbs to that we can identify them?

KZ 1000 carbs from 1973 to 1980 didn't use vacuum ports. Depending on the model there may be as many as three but usually two air vents. These should not be blocked as they provide the differential air pressure for carbs to work properly.

If your carbs are newer than 1980 they may have used a vacuum petcock but I have no experience with anything newer.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

KZ1000 A2 had 26mm with a vacuum port for the petcock, and other models with 28's and CV's did also.

You're right!...for the A2. Not sure on A3 or A4 because there's no fiche for them. All of the B series B1 to B4 had gravity feed.

All the carbs are gravity feed. The carb vacuum port is to drive the petcock on/off function.

The spacing is fine. I have vm28ss on my kz650. However, you may need carb holders from a kz1000, I can't remember.

Need to swap manifolds to the 1000 ones, and if the set of carbs you have doesn't have the vacuum port then swap in a manual petcock on the tank. The spacing is the same. They will require some tuning but will work, you'll lose some low end torque but gain mid and upper.

Thanks for the information. I know I need kz 1000 intake boots to make it work. Adding a vacuum petcock should be easy. Once home I will take pictures and update this thread.
